Subsequent to making a New Year's Resolution, the health
club is packed with workout newbies. Specifically from
January through May, the newcomers have a way of enraging
the regulars. From August through September, other wannabe
fit enthusiasts are lured by special health club promotions.
Unfamiliar with the lay of the fitness center land, new
gym members commit a host of health club faux pas. Some
of these errs can be downright dangerous. For prospective
new members, there are a few commonsense rules to make
part of your etiquette at the fitness center:
Don't chat on your cell phone.
Are you working out or catching up with your friends on
the cell phone? Either way, your fellow members don't
care to hear about what you ate on your date last night.
Not to mention, it's tying up a piece of machinery that
your fellow members are entitled to use.
Wipe off your Perspiration
There's nothing worse than saddling up to sweaty equipment.
So there's no need to leave a little of yourself behind.
After your complete your work-out, wipe off the equipment.
For health reasons, use a separate towel to tidy the fitness
club machinery.
Be conscious of equipment time limit.
Have you moved into the weight bench? From your iPod,
to your towel, magazine and cell-phone, you've been on
that machine for 57 minutes. Meanwhile, three other people
are milling about as you take 5 minutes between each set.
Whenever a health club allots a time limit, it is for
the courtesy of your fellow members..
Be conscientious of safety
Unattended weights strewn in the walk way of the bodybuilding
area is tantamount to causing a serious accident. Return
dumbbells and other free weights clear of the walk way.
Health club fitness commonsense tip:
Aside from exerting your body for a good workout, remember
to exercise commonsense, consideration and courtesy. It
will make the fitness center a great place to improve
the body.
