what causes side aches during running? howdo I prevent them?

Cramps, side aches, happen when not enough oxygen get through your body and your lungs need more oxygen so they cramp up. What you need is a sufficent speed and breathing timing which will enable you to run faster without cramping up, and you will have a better workout.
