Everyone has a different way to quit. Here's how I did it. You first have to have the attitude that "I MUST quit" (easier said than done) N.L.P. helped with this, go to any search engine and type Nuero Linguistic Programming or N.L.P. This conditioned my mind to have the not idea that I need to quit or I want to quit, but I MUST QUIT. With this in mind the rest fell into place for me. You must understand yourself to recognize and develeop your own best quitting technique. I smoked 1 pck/day. I started rationing 6/day for a week then 4/wk then 2 wk. The interesting thins is that the last few days of 2/wk I found that it would just be silly to smoke 1/day and I decided to quit altogether. For me, I need a "victory" ritual. So I decided to take the most difficult one. (this is not recommended for everyone) The day I decided to be the day, I bought a new pack to only smoke one. So I did, I smoked one ciggarette and now I keep 19 cigs in my car. Why? as I reminder that I CAN have and be around cigs without partaking. For example, the guys out there calling smokers slobs may say I'd be better off putting em in the trash. Then when I'm around smokers, I have the temptation to smoke, but with having those special 19 on me always, I learn to deal with the temptation. Eventually when I feel that I do not need a reminder I'll get rid of them. But I've been carrying around those 19 for a month now(not long but I feel soooo much better). For now I take pride that I can keep cigs on me and not touch them. It's hard, but the positive self esteem that comes with success makes it easier every day.

REMEMBER THIS IS ONLY ONE MANS(MY) STORY OF HOW HE QUIT AND IS NOT A RECCOMENDED QUITTING TECHNIQUE, although it seems to be working for ME.
