My husband and I have been doing the carb diet since June of 2003 ~ We have basically reduced the amount of carbs in our diet ~ We are on no set program (Atkins or South Beach Diet) We have basically just reduced the carbs from an estimated 1000 or more a day to 80 carbs a day. We do not look at it as a diet, we like to think of it as a new way of eating. If you look at this as a diet you will begin to suffer "burn-out" quick. You have to find something that really works for you. We still have fried foods (fried with a chicken breader which is lower in carbs than flour - You can also make gravy with this breader which is great with your meats). We still have cassaroles but when it calls for bread crumbs we use ground up pork rinds instead. Doing the carb thing you don't really miss out on alot because there is ALOT that you can have but again it is all in how you work the menu to work for you... I have gone from a 14 to a 4 so I am loving it! My husband has lost 55#'s and lowered his BP & cholesterol (which is great) ~ We would highly recommend this way of eating to everyone. PS: Yes, we do splurg on occasion but then we are right back on track. If you ever begin telling yourself that you can't have something, that is the kiss of death - It is my opinion that if you want it, GET IT ~ Satisfy that craving & move on! Just because you slip up a few times that is no excuse to give up ~ You can do it!!! NOTE: I have found several "low carb" receipes online ~ Check it out. |
