Listen folks, you have to understand low-carb diets for them to be successful, and to make sure you aren't missing anything critical. It is IMPERATIVE you get the book for the plan you're going to follow and take the time to TRULY understand how it works. It involves a LOT more than just cutting your carbs to 20 to 30 grams/carbs a day. People who are not successful, or have health problems are mainly those who try to wing it based on what they read on a web site or something. If you're going low-carb, you need to understand it is for life, not for short-term loss. Before you commit to a life change, you need to fully understand the justification for doing so, and the dietary science behind the reasoning. If "doing Atkins" made you sick, then you didn't know what you were doing. Some people feel a little down the first 3 or 4 days, but after that, when your blood sugar and insulin levels are stable, you should feel better than ever since you were a child. Finally, why do people and sites like this call low-carb/Atkins fad diets? How many years over 30 does a plan have to exist before it's no longer a "fad"? |
