I know I'm coming in kind of late, but I'd love to join this buddy group, if I may? I am a 31 yr. old mother of three children, ages 12,10, and 2. I am recently divorced and I had a really hard time dealing with that. depression, consolation binging, that sort of thing. I have decided to move on with my life, and I recently started nursing school. I had to have a physical before beginning any classes, and I weighed in at 207 ... and a half!!! That was on Aug. 17, and now I weigh 190. I know that isn't much, but I feel better about myself, I have more confidence in myself than I have ever had. I don't know that I could say I'm dieting, but I try to watch what I eat and drink. I have completely cut out the colas and iced teas. Now I'm strictly water, water, water... I try to make better choices about the food I eat, too. Like instead of having fried chicken, mashed potatoes& gravy, with a biscuit, I'll have a salad with grilled chicken, fat free dressing, a serving of fat free yogurt, and water. I have access to a gym, with all the new fangled equipment, free of charge... and I am on a tight budget with my recent situation...but I don't have the luxury of a personal trainer to help me with a work out regimen. If someone could help me with a menu/exercise plan, I would really appreciate it.. more than you know.. I am 5'4" and I weigh 190. I would like to get to at least 135. I'm in no hurry, for I want this to be a lifelong commitment on my part to stay healthy, for myself and my children. I would appreciate any comments and suggestions from all of you.. Thanks and I wish all of you the very best in your effort at getting healthy. |
