Thank you very much indeed!! That is the most satisfying answer I have had in regards to this question that has plagued me for ages! I do appreciate knowing some of the scientific side of the matter, as this helps me understand the debate far better. Essentially, it sounds like you're saying that it's always best to choose a low-fat version even if the calories are the same. I always used to think that cutting back on fat in general was the answer to weight loss, until I read something from a dietician on the Internet that said something like, "calories are calories in the end, so there isn't anything magical about not eating fat calories". So then I started to compare calorie numbers instead of fat numbers (I had never bothered getting all caught up in counting calories before; all I tried to do was watch the fat intake). I started to wonder if the whole low-fat argument was just a myth perpetuated my companies that promote these products. Anyway, thanks again for such a great response! |
