Actually, it is perfectly alright to work your abs every single day for the rest of your life, unless you experience soreness the next day. Your abs heal much fast than almost any other muscle group. This allows you to work them much more frequently. The problem is the stomach area is a main fat storer. You can do sit-ups til you pass out all year, but if your not doing other excersizes to control your over-all weight problem, you won't see much definition. To lost that weight try running regulary or jump roping. Remember it's consistency not intensity. That means you can't run for 24 hours once a month and see the same results as 45 minutes a day. And it's not quantity, it's quality. When you do your sit-ups make sure you're doing them slowly and actually squeezing your muscles tightly at the top. 50 of these done right is better than 350.
