Confused Soul- Some things I've tried for a toned butt are...

lay down with knees bent like you're going to do crunches. Instead of crunches, though, squeeze your butt tightly and raise your butt into the air. Keep your butt contracted the entire time and slowly lower and raise it. You will feel it, trust me.

Also, you can stand facing a wall with your hands against the wall. Slowly raise a leg, one at a time-this will contract the glutes.

You can also try some curcuit machines at the gym that target the glutes well.
