why is this a heated debate? why must some of those commenting also add comments to demean the intelligence of those who don't agree with thier views?

It is very interesting reading the differant views whether based scientifically or just opinions. One thing I have been told is you have to have magnesium to process calcium I assume that's why they have supplements that combine the two.

I myself have eliminated dairy to give it a go for myself and I find that I don't even crave dairy any longer. I get soy cheese to ease that empty spot as I love cheese. I don't use butter either. I don't have any specific symptoms to look for to see if it's improving my life. But I do know that I am not feeling any worse for it either. I take the calcium magnesium supplement just to be sure I am getting enough.

I think an imbalance of anything is not good for the body. Remembering that we should be eating 30-40% raw fruits and veges and we keep to that we will find that whatever else is in our diet is minimized and therefore it can deal with it. But if you have allowed your body to get to an imbalanced state it takes a period of really avoiding things that may not be the best foods for you, when if your system is working properly then you can tolerate these foods. This opinion is based on seeing people such as diabetics who have been eating the wrong foods for themselves prior to developing thier disorder they then are no longer able to eat these foods freely or not at all unless they are medicated. The same goes for food allergies, people eat to much of one thing they end up allergic to it.

I totally agree with those who said each person is differant and have differant needs and tolerances. So it is up to each of us what we believe or want to believe. It's like a religion others are trying to push on to one another. Dairy lovers want the Soy lovers to worship thier cow and the soy lovers want the dairy lovers to worship thier bean.... why get so heated just because people want to believe two differant theories. Because so far that's all we have. We can't trust what we read or hear because everyone is trying to prove thier theory to be true or they are getting paid by dairy farmers or soy bean farmers to get positive propaganda for thier product. If you want truth then you have to do the research yourself just like if you want to find truth in religion you can't just follow what others have been telling you because they are trying to promote thier's. (I only mention religion because it's an analagy all can relate to in one way or another)
